Most working New Yorkers are forced to live under the constant threat of being fired for any reason, or no reason at all, with no warning, no explanation, and no recourse. It’s time to change that.
It’s time this city approached our neighbors experiencing homelessness with care, not cops. The safe, healthy New York City we all need and deserve will recognize that being homeless isn’t a crime.
Sex work is work. The city has a responsibility to protect the health, safety, and economic wellbeing of all New Yorkers, regardless of what they do for a living.

Cecilia Gentili was a fearless leader, a trans icon, an author, an actress, a pioneering advocate for the dignity and freedom of sex workers, and so much more. The New York City Council passed my resolution to designate January 31 as Cecilia Gentili Day annually. Cecilia Day is proof that New York City will continue to celebrate the joy and power of the transgender community.
For too long, this city has cynically used violence survivors trauma and pain merely as a pretext to ramp up policing, prosecution, and incarceration, leaving the actual survivors without access to the services and protections they need. No longer.
As we fight for the guaranteed right to a free, safe, legal abortion for anyone who determines that they need one, this legislative package ensures that NYC is safe for anyone receiving, performing, or assisting in abortion care.
Too many can’t afford rent if their housing voucher has to cover utilities too. This law eliminates that obstacle, helping our homeless neighbors move more efficiently from the shelter system into the permanent housing they need and deserve.
New York City provides public childcare subsidies for undocumented families because of the Care For All Families budget campaign, led alongside NYC Comptroller Brad Lander and Council Member Shahana Hanif.
